BIOGRAPHY:

Born in the city of San Francisco, Vasili Gavre-Wareham learn to embrace the diversity of his multi cultural environment from his Mother, the creator of a non-profit bi-lingual preschool and Father, a world renowned sculptor.  Vasili’s philosophies of appreciating differences lead him to embrace all types of people and found good music in every genre.

As a songwriter, Vasili is like a hopeless romantic, reminiscing about love letters and using methods he learned from his poetry classes.  Trained on a stand up grand piano, Vasili’s excitement caused him to learn drums and guitar lending to his multi instrumentalist production approach today. This facilitated his own sense of identity, unique to his peers and confident in his ideas.

Vasili began to dj for his high school dances while interning at The Justice League where he developed his sound and skills.  He played with dj’s such as Mark Farina and Miguel Migs and saw live shows including Femi Kuti and The Roots.  This is where he met DJ Pause who helped develop his studio production and dj technique’s.  In college Vasili created the most successful attended weekly club incorporating live shows and dj’s.  After releasing two mix cd’s on House Vibes, Vasili released his first single “Liven Life” and did a bootleg remix of No Doubt’s “Hella Good”.  He received press from URB magazine and landed residencies in San Francisco playing with artist from Naked Music and OM Records

In 2003 Vasili moved to New York City and started djing at obscure as well as luxurious venues including events with Jay-J and Latrice Barnett of Ultra Records.  New York influenced Vasili to focus back on his studio production, making songs not tracks and dance music that was not house.  His song “You’re Leavin” caught the attention of Chris Brann from Wamdue Project who signed the song to his label K.I.D Recordings in 2005 and has a solo album due in 2006. Vasili’s busy production schedule and diverse projects push his music to new boundaries from his Birds Of A Feather project incorporating acoustic instruments and female/male duets to Commuter, a cinematic electronic exploration. His remix production has included artist such as Crystal Waters, Esthero, Kaskade and Vivian Green.

After the huge response of the unreleased song “Do You Have A Girlfriend” featuring the vocalist EMME, Vasili realized the cross over pop potential of this collaboration and decided to do an EMME artist album (due June 2006).  Pulling from his SF Bay Area soul/hiphop styles and New York rock/electro musical influences, EMME’s album makes pop soulful and fun.  Although Vasili influences included hip-hop artists like Dr. Dre, pop artists like Michael Jackson and dance artist like Royskopp nevertheless the sound of EMME is a strong cohesion, reminiscent of Gwen Stefani, Joss Stone and Madonna.

Vasili Gavre as an artist can be found djing around the world and among the liner notes of several cd’s.  His unique production and songwriting is finding its way to lounges, radio stations and clubs so keep your ears open because there are some new hits coming!!
